Frequently asked questions:
What is the applicator's power source?
The Applicator requires two AA batteries. DoubleO Scenics recommend rechargeable batteries as they give a more consistent performance than ordinary batteries.
What quality can I expect?
Here at DoubleO Scenics we prefer the Henry Royce approach to manufacturing rather than the Henry Ford method.
The Applicator is manufactured from bought in items, these are stripped to their component parts, and where it's needed modified. Jigs are employed to ensure all parts are standardised, all soldering is carried out using high quality solder specially formulated for the electronics industry. The electronic output cable (the brown one between the handle and the hopper) is soldered directly to the hopper's mesh to ensure minimal voltage drop and 100% of the completed Applicators are tested for correct operation before leaving us.
Will it last?
The applicator used for our layouts and our numerous exhibition demonstrations was made nine years ago and it's still going strong, so we don't think longevity is likely to be a problem so long as it's used and stored properly.
Can it be repaired if it's accidently broken?
Thanks to the standardisation of all the component parts economical repairs can be carried out in our workshop and irrespective of the amount of damage no repair will cost more than the cost of parts and labour + P&P, if the repair comes to more than £16.50 + P&P (correct as of Dec. 2014) then a new item will be provided. Please note: we do not put a mark-up on repairs.
